The ACP holds several professional development seminars a year through this project. These seminars are designed to update publishers on new technology in the publishing industry; to help them understand how various technological changes affect their businesses; and to provide them with options for addressing and coping with change.
In 2008, ACP members have been offered several PD seminars under this program. Publishers attending the Trade and Task Force on Marketing Retreat in January enjoyed sessions on the Canadian book retail market by Craig Riggs, and market research by Dan Aronchick. Eight sessions were offered at the AGM in Vancouver, which was held in May. A wide range of topics were discussed, including US export, online marketing, copyright reform and digitization.
Suggestions for PD seminars are always welcome, and can be forwarded to the ACP office.
