October 8, 2004: ACP MEMBERS ON GILLER PRIZE SHORTLIST!!—
We are very pleased to congratulate ACP members Cormorant Books and McClelland & Stewart Ltd.,
both of whom are shortlisted for the 2004 Giller Prize.
At a press conference that drew over 100 media and members of the publishing industry, the Giller
jury panel (comprised of authors Charlotte Gray, Alistair MacLeod and M.G. Vassanji) announced
the 2004 shortlist. The six finalists were selected from 94 books submitted for consideration.
The complete shortlist is:
Cormorant Books, for Pauline Holdstock's novel "Beyond Measure"
McClelland & Stewart/Douglas Gibson Books, for Alice Munro's short story collection "Runaway"
Knopf Canada, for Shauna Singh Baldwin's novel "The Tiger Claw"
Doubleday Canada, for Wayson Choy's novel "All That Matters"
Random House Canada, for Paul Quarrington's novel "Galveston"
Knopf Canada, for Miriam Toews' novel "A Complicated Kindness"
The Giller awards ceremony will be broadcast live across Canada on CBC Television from 9:00pm - 10:00pm on
Thursday, November 11, 2004. The finalists will be honoured and a winner announced at a gala black tie
dinner and awards ceremony to be held at Toronto's Four Seasons Hotel. Congratulations and best of luck
